A man was killed and his five friends injured today when a gunman opened fire at them at a restaurant along Jalan Ipoh in Kuala Lumpur.
Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner Zakaria Pagan said the incident occurred between 4.30am and 5am.
A group of six men were having drinks near the Uma Rani restaurant in 4th Mile, Jalan Ipoh, when the gunman alighted from a Perodua Myvi and proceeded to shoot the six using a semi-automatic pistol.
He then got back into the vehicle and sped away from the scene.
The six shooting victims were rushed to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital, but one of them was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The remaining five, aged between 22 and 51, suffered varying degrees of injuries, as some were shot in the hand, leg, shoulder and cheek.
Zakaria said police recovered seven bullet casings from the scene.
"We are investigating the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder," Zakaria said.
