KUALA LUMPUR: Police have identified the six victims of the Jalan Ipoh shooting on Saturday as members of Gang 08, including a 38-year-old man by the name of S. Saravanan who was shot dead.
City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Gan Kong Meng said the five drive-by shooting survivors had attended Saravanan’s funeral on Sunday.
“There were signs showing that the men were part of Gang 08.
“The case is still under investigation and we are in the midst of establishing possible motives behind the shooting,” he said, adding that no arrests had been made thus far.
The six friends were having breakfast at a table outside a restaurant in Jalan Ipoh when they were confronted by a gunman at 4.20am on Saturday.
The man took out a gun and opened fire at Saravanan as well as directing six to seven other shots at his friends.
The suspect then fled the scene with an accomplice in a Perodua Myvi.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, Section 307 for attempted murder and Section 3 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971 for discharging a firearm with intent to cause death or hurt.
