GEORGE TOWN: The Penang government has allocated RM49.45 million for 274,151 recipients under Phase 1 of the i-Sejahtera Programme this year.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said payments under Phase 1 of the i-Sejahtera Programme 2025 had been disbursed to all recipients via Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) starting today.

He said Phase 1 covered 205,089 recipients under the Senior Citizen Appreciation Programme, 43,321 under the Suri Emas Programme, 15,330 under the Disabled Persons' Assistance Programme, and 10,411 under the Single Mother Assistance Programme.

"Applications submitted after Feb 10 will receive payments in Phase 2 this year, and registration can be made via the official i-Sejahtera website. Applicants are encouraged to update their bank account information to ensure smooth payment transactions in Phase 2," he told a press conference at the Komtar building here today.

Chow said the state government spent RM50.54 million last year, benefiting 280,633 recipients through various programmes under the i-Sejahtera initiative.

He said the allocation included an annual contribution of RM200 per person under the Senior Citizen Appreciation Programme, the Single Mother Assistance Programme (RM100 per person), the Suri Emas Programme (RM100 per person), the Disabled Persons' Assistance Programme (RM200 per person), and the Anak Emas Programme (RM200 per person on a one-off basis).

He said the state government remained deeply concerned about the welfare of the people of Penang and always made sure that the welfare assistance provided could alleviate the hardships faced by those in need.

The i-Sejahtera Programme is an annual financial contribution by the state government to assist the people of Penang, particularly senior citizens, disabled persons, single mothers, housewives, and babies aged two years and below.
