KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) Kuala Lumpur arrested 11 individuals from South Korea, including five women in an Op Gegar raid at an unlicensed entertainment center here, early this morning.
Director of JIM Kuala Lumpur, Wan Mohamed Saupee Wan Yusoff, said the arrested individuals were between 20 and 40 years old, with one of the women believed to be the manager of the premises.
"This entertainment center is believed to be exclusively for Koreans and hides behind a restaurant business. The premises offer karaoke services in Korean, and customers can also make advance reservations over the phone.
"In addition, this premise is also believed to offer maid service for a fee of between RM300 and RM500 for a period of three hours," he told reporters at the scene of the incident.
Wan Mohamed Saupee said that the raid at around 1am this morning was carried out after intelligence for two weeks, and his party had to break down the entrance to the premises after the management of the premises refused to cooperate in opening the door.
Further investigations are being carried out in accordance with Section 39(b), Section 6(1)(c), and Section 6(1c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and all those arrested were taken to the Bukit Jalil Immigration Depot for further action. - BERNAMA
