LANGKAWI: A man from the United States (US) was brought before the Sessions Court, here, today, on charges of possessing child pornography and pornographic videos in a laptop, last February.
The accused, David Matthew Frahm, pleaded guilty after the charges against him were read by an interpreter before Judge Helmi Ghani.
According to the charge sheet, the 46-year-old man was charged with having child pornography and pornographic videos in a laptop at a residence in Chogm Villa, Jalan Seri Legenda, here, at 7.10pm on 15 February.
The accused was charged in accordance with Section 10 of the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act 2017 and Section 292(a) of the Penal Code.
If convicted, the accused can be sentenced to a maximum of five years imprisonment or a fine not exceeding RM10,000 or both.
The prosecution was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor, Mohd Farhan Aliff Ahmad while the accused was represented by lawyers, Cheow Wee and Alvin Lau.
The court then set May 13 for mitigation of the case and sentencing decision.
Previously, the same accused also faced prosecution for the offense of overstaying when he was in this country for 1,380 days.
