KUALA LUMPUR: DAP Central Executive Committee member Ronnie Liu requested the party's leadership to terminate his membership with effect from June 24 (tomorrow).

The decision, the DAP veteran insisted, was taken because many unexpected things had happened during his 41 years as a member of the party.

The application for termination of membership in the party was informed by the Sungai Pelek, Selangor State Assembly Member in his letter to DAP Secretary General Anthony Loke.

Ronnie also shared the letter on his Facebook account.

"I have been involved in the DAP struggle since high school and have been a DAP member since 1982.

"However, after 41 years with DAP, many things have happened and some of them were beyond my expectations. With that I request to end my membership with DAP," he said in the letter.

At the same time, Ronnie thanked the DAP leadership for all the opportunities and confidence given to him.

"May DAP continue to progress and always uphold the principles of democratic socialism and the struggle concept of 'Malaysia for the Malaysian people'," he said again.
