GE15: Ahmad Zahid will not become PM if BN wins - Tok Mat
REMBAU: UMNO Deputy President, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan insisted that the party's President, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will not become Prime Minister if BN wins the 15th General Election (GE15).
He pointed out that UMNO has already decided that the Prime Minister candidate is Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
According to him, however, it is up to the discretion of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
"Don't doubt it. But it's up to the discretion of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. We can only suggest it.
"Like in Johor, we proposed the name of Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad to remain as Menteri Besar, but the Sultan of Johor wants someone else," he said while giving a lecture at the Kundur Voting District Center Operations Room (PDM) here on Tuesday.
He, who is the BN Election Director, said that Pakatan Harapan (PH) is seen to be continuously playing on the issue because they have no other capital and are trying to mislead the people.
Mohamad said, it includes threatening the people that BN will release certain leaders if BN becomes the government.
"During the 60 years BN governed the country, how many of our leaders went to jail? Similarly, when Ismail Sabri was Prime Minister, we did not intervene in Datuk Seri Najib Razak's case.
"But PH, as soon as they ruled the country, they appointed Tommy Thomas as Attorney General and the first thing they did was release Lim Guan Eng even though his case was being prosecuted at the time.
"There are also their leaders who were sentenced to 18 months in prison but it was changed to 20 months of good behavior," he said.
In addition, he said, although there are still a few days left in the campaigning period, the people are expected to have already decided which party they will vote for in this election.
