PUTRAJAYA - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim confirmed the support of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) in the Unity Government.
According to Anwar, he received a call from the Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk SeriHajjiNoor on Thursday.
"He (Hajiji) called me yesterday, he did join us," he said when met by reporters at Medan Selera Precinct 8, near here on Friday.
Hajiji who is also the GRS Chairman on Thursday expressed confidence that the state and federal governments can work closely together to realize various aspects of development, including efforts to restore Sabah's rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
Earlier, Anwar in a media conference at Bangunan Perdana Putra today said the participation of GRS allows the Unity Government to reach two-thirds of the members of Parliament
"The Chief Minister of Sabah has informed that GRS has also officially agreed to join the unity government.
"This means that our strength that was announced yesterday, including GPS Sarawak and now GRS Sabah, shows that we are close to or have reached two-thirds of the members of Parliament," he said.
