Police arrested a man for allegedly molesting a child in an elevator
PUTRAJAYA: The police arrested a man to help investigate a molest case involving a 12-year-old child in an elevator here, last Wednesday.
Putrajaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner A Asmadi Abdul Aziz said the man was arrested last Thursday afternoon at Pasar Kajang.
He said the suspect will be remanded for investigation under Section 354 of the Penal Code.
"In the incident last Wednesday, the victim, who is also a 12-year-old child, was molested by a man in an elevator.
"The incident came to light after the victim told her mother about the incident.
"The victim reported that he was groped and kissed on the cheek by the suspect when he boarded the elevator from level G to the eighth floor," he said when contacted here today.
He said, the suspect then continued to escape to the fourth floor of the residential block and went down to the G floor before disappearing in a car.
A Asmadi said, a report was made by the victim's mother at Putrajaya Precinct 7 Police Station, yesterday morning.
"Preliminary investigations found that the 19-year-old suspect had been a student of the victim's mother at a school in Putrajaya," he said
