COVID-19: 61 more new deaths, 30,370 in total 

‎15 of the 61 reported deaths occurred outside the hospital (brought-in-dead or BID). 

‎KUALA LUMPUR:‎‎ The Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 61 new deaths from COVID-19 infections as of midnight last night.‎

‎This brings the total number of deaths due to the pandemic to 30,370 people from 2,622,024 positive COVID-19 cases detected in the country.‎

According to MOH data on the COVIDNOW portal, 15 out of 61 reported deaths occurred outside the hospital (brought-in-dead or BID).‎

‎The reported death toll also involved a number of outstanding cases with some of the cases dying a few weeks ago.‎

‎This follows the confirmation process of whether a COVID-19 patient died as a result of the pandemic took time.‎

‎Meanwhile, there are 65,497 active cases of COVID-19 nationwide.‎

‎Of these, 53,177 individuals or 81.2 per cent are currently undergoing home quarantine.‎

‎A total of 6,575 people were placed in the COVID-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centre (PKRC).‎

‎A total of 5,238 cases were treated in hospitals and 507 patients were placed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).‎

‎The ICU case involved 235 patients needing respiratory assistance and another 272 needed ventilators.‎

Malaysia recorded 4066 new cases yesterday.
