COVID-19: 61 more new deaths, 30,370 in total
15 of the 61 reported deaths occurred outside the hospital (brought-in-dead or BID).
KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 61 new deaths from COVID-19 infections as of midnight last night.
This brings the total number of deaths due to the pandemic to 30,370 people from 2,622,024 positive COVID-19 cases detected in the country.
According to MOH data on the COVIDNOW portal, 15 out of 61 reported deaths occurred outside the hospital (brought-in-dead or BID).
The reported death toll also involved a number of outstanding cases with some of the cases dying a few weeks ago.
This follows the confirmation process of whether a COVID-19 patient died as a result of the pandemic took time.
Meanwhile, there are 65,497 active cases of COVID-19 nationwide.
Of these, 53,177 individuals or 81.2 per cent are currently undergoing home quarantine.
A total of 6,575 people were placed in the COVID-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centre (PKRC).
A total of 5,238 cases were treated in hospitals and 507 patients were placed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The ICU case involved 235 patients needing respiratory assistance and another 272 needed ventilators.
Malaysia recorded 4066 new cases yesterday.
