KUALA LUMPUR - A former Indian restaurant worker claimed that he was physically and mentally abused by his employer in Petaling Jaya.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) and the Ministry of Human Resources (KSM) have raided the restaurant and information related to the raid will be disclosed to the public in the near future.
The former employee, who returned to his country of origin, made the revelation in a 'Neekondai Parvai' show hosted by Lakshami Ramakrishnan.
He said he used a tourist visa to enter the country in 2018 and was asked to work temporarily at the restaurant until he obtained a work permit within six months without being paid a salary.
In fact, he and other workers were forced to work as early as five in the morning until midnight, he said.
“They were always beaten, salaries are not paid and even locked up. To make matters worse, my passport was also burned and threatened and treated like a slave. Not just me but other employees as well.
"What's worse is when there are young boys who come to work and have permit problems and are sodomized, there are co-workers who work in restaurants crying and complaining to me about what happened to them. This happened in March this year, "he said.
He claimed that, when he asked about the matter, his employer bought petrol and burned the employee in the waist. We saved the young worker.
In fact, his employer warned the workers to tell the doctor the injury suffered by his friend was due to the explosion of the cylinder due to the negligence of the worker himself.
He said he had to comply with the employer's wishes because he did not have a work permit before fleeing to seek assistance at the Indian Embassy to enable him to obtain a passport that had been burned.
In the meantime, the host also contacted the Minister of Human Resources, Datuk Seri M Saravanan to get comments on the matter.

On the other hand, the South Indian -style banana leaf restaurant said in a statement that it declined to comment further on it as it was currently under investigation by the authorities.
“It is unfortunate and sad when the name of our organization is dragged in this baseless accusation between foreign workers and at the same time dragging other partners.
“This is a serious accusation and as a social company founded to help the community and the needy all this while.
“This incident needs justice and the truth needs to be revealed. We will give full cooperation to the authorities to investigate it, "he said, adding that it was a false accusation.
Masala Wheels further said, one of the business partners whose name was implicated in the same issue has been suspended for a while until the investigation is completed.
“Actually, from the beginning of the establishment of this company, we are aware of the risks that we will go through because this is not founded for profit alone but to help troubled teenagers and the community in the long term.
"We hope the real thing will be revealed by the authorities soon. In the meantime, we will continue to operate as usual because if it stops halfway because of allegations like this, many lives will be affected, "he said.
