The Samsung Galaxy Fold will be available in Malaysia for pre-order starting from Oct 9, 2019.
According to the company, customers can place their pre-order requests for the foldable phone at selected Samsung participating stores and chain store retailers. More information on locations are available on the Samsung Galaxy Fold pre-order website.
Galaxy Fold users will get access to a specialised customer care service which includes one-on-one access with Samsung product experts and a 24/7 support hub online or through a toll-free number that will be printed on an instruction guide that comes with the device.
The Galaxy Fold has a 4.6in HD+ Super Amoled cover display with 399ppi (1,680 x 720) resolution that opens like a book to reveal a 7.3in QXGA+ dynamic Amoled screen with 362ppi (2,152 x 1,536) resolution. The device comes with a next-generation 64-bit octa-core processor and 12GB RAM with 512GB internal storage.
Samsung Malaysia Electronics president Yoonsoo Kim said the device defies the barriers of a traditional smartphone design.
"It's designed to have a seamless experience folded or unfolded and optimised for the Android ecosystem," he said in a press statement.
The device has App Continuity which allow users to seamlessly continue using one app on the front display of the device and when unfolded into the bigger screen, the app will remain functional. It can also run multiple apps on the bigger display such as letting users stream a video, browse the Internet and chat with a friend all at the same time.
The Galaxy Fold runs on Android 9 with 4,380mAh battery capacity, supports fast charging via compatible power cord and wireless devices as well as Wireless PowerShare, a feature that allows users to charge other Qi-compatible devices on the back of the Galaxy Fold.
The device also has a six-camera setup that includes a 10-megapixel selfie camera on the front cover; a 10-megapixel selfie camera and a 8-megapixel RGB depth camera on the inside and both comes with Live Focus feature.
On the back, it has a triple-camera setup – a 16-megapixel ultra-wide camera with 123° field of view (FOV), a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera with 77° FOV and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with 45° FOV.
Other camera features include dual optical image stabilisation, up to 10x digital zoom, HDR10+ recording along with intelligent features such as scene optimiser with 30 support modes, shot suggestions and flaw detection.
The Galaxy Fold is available in two colour options namely Space Silver and Cosmos Black, priced at RM8,388. In the box, users will get a pair of Galaxy Buds, travel adapter and Aramid fiber cover as a phone casing.
