Cabinet agrees to end Tabung Harapan collection on Dec 31

PETALING JAYA: Tabung Harapan will cease collections on Dec 31 this year, says Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.
Lim said that as of 3pm Monday (Oct 29), a total of RM196,322,746.30 (RM196.3mil) had been collected. It consist of donations from individuals, organisations, and interest from the fixed deposit investment, managed by the National Audit Department.
He said that the decision to stop the initiative, which started on May 30 this year, was agreed upon during a Cabinet meeting.
“Malaysians who wish to donate to the fund can (still) do so before Dec 31,” he said in a press statement Monday.
