Cops record Perlis MP's statement on molest case

KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman has recorded the statement of the Perlis MP who is being investigated for allegedly molesting a 15-year-old girl.
Perlis police chief Senior Asst Comm Noor Mushar Mohamed said the suspect, who went to Bukit Aman at close to noon Tuesday (Oct 30), spent a few hours with investigators.
“The questioning of the suspect lasted until around 5pm.
“We are close to wrapping up the investigation into the matter,” he said when contacted.
He added that police have so far recorded the statements of 10 people, including the girl and the suspect.
“We will forward the investigation papers to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP).
“The DPP will then decide on further action on the matter,” he said.
It was reported that the statement of the MP would be managed by the Bukit Aman Sexual, Women and Child Investigations Division (D11).
The case is classified under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
It was learnt that a police report was made recently, alleging that the victim, 15, was molested by the MP but the report was withdrawn by the victim’s family.
Despite the withdrawal of the report, police said investigations must go on, and that any understanding reached between the victim’s family and the suspect is not related to the police.

KANGAR – Polis akan mengambil keterangan daripada Ahli Parlimen Arau, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim bagi membantu siasatan berhubung dakwaan mencabul seorang remaja perempuan yang berusia 15 tahun yang dikatakan berlaku di negeri itu.
Mengikut maklumat yang disebarkan oleh portal berita, remaja itu membuat laporan polis berhubung perlakuan ahli politik tersebut di Balai Polis Kangar pada 20 Oktober lalu. Mangsa mendakwa dia dicabul ketika berada dalam kereta bekas Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri itu selepas mengadakan satu persembahan di sekolahnya di Perlis.
Mangsa dikatakan dicabul dengan cara tangan dan bahunya dipegang oleh bekas menteri itu. Selepas diperlakukan sedemikian mangsa berlari keluar dari kereta tersebut.
Kejadian cabul terhadap mangsa yang merupakan pelajar itu didakwa berlaku ketika ahli politik berkenaan masih memegang jawatan sebagai menteri.
Difahamkan, mangsa membuat laporan polis pada pukul 2.50 pagi sebelum menarik semula laporan kira-kira pukul 4 pagi pada hari yang sama. Namun tidak diketahui bilakah tarikh kejadian cabul itu berlaku.
Ketua Polis Perlis, Senior Asisten Komisioner Noor Mushar Mohd. mengesahkan perkara itu tetapi tidak menamakan nama ahli politik tersebut.
