KUALA LUMPUR: Bail has been set at RM2mil in the trial of Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor who has pleaded not guilty to 17 charges of money laundering involving about RM7mil at the Sessions Court here Thursday (Oct 4).

The charges framed against her are under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act (AMLATFPUAA) 2001.


Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram and Ahmad Akram Gharib are the prosecution team, while the defence is being led by Datuk K. Kumaraendran and Datuk Geethan Ram Vincent.

In setting the bail, Judge Azura Alwi said that the request by Sri Ram of RM10mil was too excessive but the amount suggested by the defence was too low.


She also instructed that Rosmah's passport be surrendered and that she not approach any of the witnesses.

The court allowed RM500,000 to be paid on Thursday (Oct 4) and the balance to be paid on or by Oct 11.The mention date has been set for Nov 8.

Rosmah pleads not guilty to money laundering charges

KUALA LUMPUR: Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor has pleaded not guilty to all 17 charges of money laundering involving about RM7mil at the Sessions Court here Thursday (Oct 4).

The charges framed against her are under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act (AMLATFPUAA) 2001.


Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram and Ahmad Akram Gharib are the prosecution team, while the defence is being led by Datuk K. Kumaraendran and Datuk Geethan Ram Vincent.


Prosecutor Sri Ram did not oppose bail and suggested a sum of RM10mil


He then asked for a significantly lower bail of RM250,000.

Sri Ram also claimed that during recording of her statement, Rosmah had approached a witness and asked the witness to make a statement in her favour.

He also asked for Rosmah's passport to be surrendered and that she not approach any witnesses.

In rebuttal, Geethan said: "She is wife to former prime minister. She has been called by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission three times (on June 5, Sept 26 and Oct 3) and each time she has never failed to attend and gives her full-cooperation.


He added that Rosmah had no prior offences and this was her first time in court.

KUALA LUMPUR: Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor has arrived at the Kuala Lumpur Courts Complex here where she is expected to face money laundering charges while her husband and former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is also here for his case mention.

Rosmah arrived at 8.28am Thursday (Oct 4) clad in an orange batik baju kurung with a matching selendang.


She was escorted by a heavy police presence but wore a warm smile on her face, her eyes downcast to avoid the flash of hundreds of cameras as she entered the court building.

There was a small band ofsupporters for Rosmah, who arrived in a black Toyota Alphard escorted by police and anti-graft officers.


Datuk Seri Gopal Sri Ram and Ahmad Akram Gharib are the prosecution team, while the defence is being led by Datuk K. Kumaraendran and Datuk Geethan Ram Vincent.

On Wednesday, investigators decided to arrest the 66-year-old while she was giving her statement in her third meeting with the MACC.

Meanwhile, Najib arrived at 8.40am in a dark blue suit and a light blue shirt and was taken to the High Court for mention of one of his cases, involving criminal breach of trust and power abuse.In total, Najib is facing some 32 charges including criminal breach of trust, abuse of power and money laundering of funds linked to 1Malaysia Development Bhd and its offshoot, SRC International Sdn Bhd.

Rosmah leaves for Jalan Duta Courts Complex after a night in MACC lock-up

PUTRAJAYA: Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor has left for the Jalan Duta Courts Complex Thursday (Oct 4) to answer charges of money laundering.

The wife of former prime minister left the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters here at 7.45am in a black Toyota Alphard bearing registration plate JRW3056 and was escorted by police and anti-graft officers.


After having spent a night in the MACC lock-up, Rosmah is expected to be charged with close to 20 charges under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act.

On Wednesday, investigators decided to arrest the 67-year-old while she was giving her statement.

On June 5, she was questioned for about five hours by MACC investigators over a probe into SRC International, a former 1MDB subsidiary.

On Sept 26, Rosmah was called in for a second round of questioning – this time on 1MDB – which lasted almost 13 hours.
