
68, including students, caught in raids of drug-fuelled parties in KL

PETALING JAYA: Sixty-eight people including university and school students were arrested in three separate raids of wild drug-fuelled parties in Kuala Lumpur.
The raids took place at three condominiums on Jalan Cendana, Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan Abdullah Hukum in the city over the weekend.
City police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said the first raid conducted at around 3am on Saturday (Oct 13) at Jalan Cendana, saw the arrests of nine men and five women aged 20 to 25.
"Five of the men and three of the women tested positive for methamphetamine and marijuana.
"Three of them were university students," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Oct 17).
The second raid, around 1.30am on Sunday (Oct 14) at Jalan Abdullah Hukum, saw 41 people including nine women detained.
"Out of the 41, 18 tested positive for drugs including two underaged teenagers, one of whom was a school student," he said.
The third raid, around 3.30am on Sunday (Oct 15) at Jalan Sultan Ismail, saw nine men and four women, aged 17 to 21, nabbed.
"All 13 of them tested positive for drugs as well.
"This included two university students and two underaged teenagers," he said.
Comm Mazlan said police will be taking serious action against owners of the condominiums and organisers of these parties as well as continue to crack down on drug and vice activities in the city.
