KUALA LUMPUR: Naza Corporation Holdings Sdn Bhd will be sponsoring attire for the Malaysian contingent to the Asian Para Games 2018 in Jakarta.

In a press statement Friday (Sept 7), Paralympic Council of Malaysia (PCM) president, SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin said Naza Corporation Holdings would sponsor the national attire outfits for all 226 Malaysian para-athletes and officials for the Games' opening ceremony.

Nasarudin, who is also the company's group executive chairman and chief executive officer, said the sponsorship was in line with the company's core values to promote health and well-being.

The Star had previously reported that the Malaysian contingent was struggling to find money to fund their purchase of attire for the opening ceremony in Jakarta.

Companies which had agreed to sponsor the contingent included TuneTalk, Bata Malaysia and Naza Corporation Holdings.

"In the circumstance, the statement made by Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, Steven Sim, is correct and PCM concurs with him," Nasarudin stated.

He added that it was standard practice to distribute attire to the contingent a few days before departing for such games. The third Asian Para Games will be held in Jakarta from Oct 6-13.
