PUTRAJAYA: Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Rahim, his elder brother Latiff and a cousin have been brought to the Magistrate's Court here to be remanded.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) took the three to the court complex at 10.30am on Wednesday (Sept 26) in two cars.

The trio were wearing the orange MACC lock-up outfit.

Azeez and Latiff did not attempt to conceal their faces, smiling at supporters who had turned up in the dozens at the court.

The supporters, who came as early as 8am, shouted “Hidup Baling!” and “Allahuakbar!” as the three were whisked into a courtroom.

Azeez, who is Baling MP, was arrested at 11.15am on Tuesday by the MACC, after he was asked to present himself at the headquarters to give a statement.

His brother was detained in Sungai Buloh at 11.30am, while the cousin was nabbed later at night at an undisclosed location.

The graftbusters are investigating the three over corruption and money laundering allegations.

On May 23, the MACC raided Abdul Azeez's homes and offices and seized RM500,000 in cash, 20 watches and several pieces of jewellery.

The former Tabung Haji chairman claimed that part of the money was from his Umno allocation, while some of the foreign currencies seized were from Kelab Putera 1Malaysia (KP1M).
