KOTA KINABALU: A deputy minister has lodged a police report against the Malaysia Today blog over a report that she was having an extramarital affair with her public relations officer.
Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis, who is the Energy, Technology, Science, Climate Change and Environment deputy minister, lodged the report at the USJ8 police station in Subang Jaya on Sunday.
Isnaraissah, who is Kota Belud member of parliament, wants the police to investigate the blog over an article, which claimed that she was involved in an affair with a male member of her staff.
“I am making this report to clear my name and that of my family. I also want the writer of the portal to be investigated,” she said in a statement.
The deputy minister also denied the claims made in the blog’s report, dated Sept 22.
Isnaraissah, who is the Parti Warisan Sabah Wirawati chief, said she learnt of the article after a friend forwarded her the link via WhatsApp.
The blog article, titled ‘Sex Scandal In Kota Belud Between Its MP And Her Officer’, claimed that the wife of Isnaraissah’s officer had discovered the alleged affair after checking her husband’s WhatsApp messages.
The article also claimed that the officer’s wife had lodged a police report, alleging her husband had choked her and assaulted her on Aug 8.
Isnaraissah, via a Facebook post, also stressed that she was not involved in any affair.
“The article by the blogger was maliciously intended to destroy my integrity as an elected representative of the people,” she said. © New Straits Times
