Ex-PM slams police for raiding mum’s house

PEKAN: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak (pic) has slammed the police raid on his mother’s house, saying this showed the current government did not even respect the widow of Tun Abdul Razak Hussein.
“My house has been raided, now my mother’s house has been raided. What is this government today that claims to be the better administration when they do not even respect the house of the wife of Tun Abdul Razak, a man who performed good deeds for Felda folk?
“And they all (police) left empty-handed too,” he said at a get-together with Felda Chini settlers here yesterday.
The raid on 86-year-old Tun Rahah Mohammad Noah’s house in Jalan Eaton, Kuala Lumpur, was carried out at about 4pm on Thursday as Najib was being slapped with 25 fresh corruption and money laundering charges at the Kuala Lumpur Courts Complex.
“One by one they get acquitted as though the charges are up for political consideration and not based on the rule of law,” he said.
The Pekan MP told the crowd that Barisan Nasional was a victim of dishonest politics as it lost not because of its agenda or policies.
“We lost because of slander and the relentless attacks against me. But I am not low in spirit because the truth will prevail sooner or later,” he said.
Earlier, Najib performed Friday prayers at Masjid Kampung Paloh Hinai and visited two ailing constituents in Felda Chini 2.
Meanwhile, Deputy IGP Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim confirmed that police inspected Rahah’s house pertaining to an ongoing investigation.
He said Rahah co-operated well, adding that police did not find anything in the house in connection with their investigation, adding that no seizure was made.
“We felt that her home needed to be checked. We approached her nicely and she gave her cooperation to the police,” he told a press conference after attending the finals of the IGP Cup futsal competition in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
