KUALA LUMPUR: Pakatan Harapan de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim successfully underwent spinal surgery in Turkey and is scheduled for a shoulder operation on Thursday.
Via a statement uploaded on his Facebook page, Anwar said the surgery was done as soon as he completed his series of activities in Jakarta, Indonesia.
“A coronary angiogram was previously carried out at the UMMC (Universiti Malaya Medical Centre) to determine the extent and necessity to perform spinal and shoulder surgery.
“They determined that there was no significant effect related to obstructive coronary disease.
However, as part of the recovery of the central stenosis secondary and central disk herniation which I am experiencing, I was advised to undergo a spinal surgery at the Medipol Mega University Hospital, Istanbul.
“Alhamdulillah (Praise God), my health is improving following the surgery.
I am scheduled for another operation on Thursday for my right shoulder following a rotator cuff injury,” he said.
Anwar asked for the public to pray for his well-being. He also uploaded a picture of him and his doctors, as well as his daughters at the hospital.
