PM to launch National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign in Penang on Aug 4

GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Esplanade or Padang Kota Lama here has been selected as the venue for the launch of the 2018 National Month And Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign scheduled for Aug 4, according to Penang State Secretary Datuk Seri Farizan Darus.
He said the event led by the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia with the cooperation from the state government would be officiated by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at 8pm.
Farizan, who is also the organising committee chairman, said the campaign was aimed at nurturing the spirit of patriotism among the people regardless of age and race.
“Besides, it also serves as a platform to promote and provide the people with greater understanding of government policies and encourage active involvement of young people in a patriotic programme.
“The event will also be attended by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo, Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and Penang exco members,” he told a press conference, which was also attended by Information director-general Datuk Ibrahim Abdul Rahman, who is also the organising committee co-chairman.
Farizan said approximately 30,000 people were expected to attend the event.
