KUALA TERENGGANU: About 1,000 people came to pay their last respects to baby Adam Raykal Mohd Sufi Naeif, who was found dead in his babysitter's refrigerator.

Adam's father Mohd Sufi Naief Mohd Fauzi, 28, thanked well wishers and calmly asked for privacy as the family grieved their loss.

"Thank you to all Malaysians who helped in the effort to find our son.

"We had hoped to be united with him but God loves him more. InsyaAllah, he is waiting for us all in heaven," Mohd Sufi said as he tried to control his emotions.

"I am not aware of any photos being shared but if there are, please stop and respect his privacy," he said when met at his son's burial at the Ladang Tok Pelam Muslim cemetery on Wednesday (July 4) night.

As he addressed the press, his wife Farah Madiha Othman, also 28, clung tightly to her husband as she sobbed "Ya Allah, Ya Allah (Oh God, Oh God)".

On Tuesday (July 3), Adam's parents had put up a post on Facebook pleading for the public to help look for him after he went missing from his babysitter's house in Taman Nakhoda Batu Caves at around 6.30pm.

NEW STRAITS TIMES

KUALA LUMPUR: “My dear Adam. It must have been cold inside the freezer. It is alright, when you are in Heaven, you will get many beautiful things,” wrote Farrah Madihah Othman, 28, the mother of Adam Rayqal Mohd Sufi, the five-month-old infant whose body was discovered in a freezer in his babysitter’s home on Tuesday night.
Farrah, who shared the heart-wrenching post for her son on Facebook, went on to thank others for the assistance given since news of his disappearance went viral on social media yesterday.
“Remember my advice and take good care of yourself. Mama will go there, my dear, (and) we will have a bubble bath.
“Inallilahiwainnalillahirojiun. Thank you friends, family and Malaysians for making efforts to find Adam and pray good things for him,” she said in the post translated from Bahasa Melayu.

Efforts to interview the distraught mother and husband, Mohd Sufi Naeif Mohd Fauzi, 28, were not successful as the couple avoided talking to pressmen who had gathered at the Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) Forensics Unit since 9am.
Their friends and family members were also seen gathering at the hospital after receiving news of Adam Rayqal’s death.
Mohd Sufi’s uncle, Abdul Rahim Ismail, 54, said the family was still mourning and enraged with the babysitter’s action.
He said the victim’s parents were still weak.
“They had said that what ever happened had been fated. Adam’s grandparents arrived at their house in Taman Amaniah, Batu Caves, at about 3am.
“They also expressed sadness and anger over the incident,” he said when met at HKL today.
Abdul Rahim said the victim was previously placed under the care of a family member in Kuala Terengganu before being sent to the babysitter since a week ago.
“I learned that the couple met the babysitter through Facebook and friends.
“Sufi said the babysitter would text his wife to update on Adam’s condition every hour while caring for him,” he said.
Abdul Rahim refused to comment on the post-mortem on the victim’s remains, saying that it was still under police investigation.
Farrah and Mohd Sufi arrived at HKL at 10.37am today for the identification process.

GOMBAK: The Selayang Magistrate’s court today issued a seven-day remand order on the two women arrested in relation to the death of five-month-old Adam Rayqal Mohd Sufi Naeif.
One of the women was Adam Rayqal's babysitter while the other was the babysitter's housemate.
Both women, aged 33 and 36, were arrested last night after the police found the body of the baby in a freezer in their house at Jalan Nakhoda Kiri, Batu Caves, here.
Magistrate Iraine Isabelo granted the application by the police to remand the duo to facilitate investigation.
It was issued under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code and investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, read together with Section 34 of the same code.
The offence carries a mandatory death penalty upon conviction.
The body of five-month-old Adam Rayqal was found fully-clothed in a recyclable bag, stowed away in a freezer at his babysitter’s house at about 11pm last night.
Mohd Sufi Naeif and wife, Farrah Madihah Othman, 28, were told by the babysitter that a man had picked up their child, and that she thought the man was the baby's father.
The couple lodged a police report at the Gombak district police headquarters at 8pm, and highlighted their search for Adam Rayqal on social media.
Cops who quizzed the babysitter found discrepancies in her statement and this later led to the discovery of Adam Rayqal's remains in the house.
