Couple charge with possession of fake rubber stamps, out on good behaviour bond

SEREMBAN: A man and his wife, who admitted to a charge of possessing counterfeit rubber stamps with the intention to create fake medical leave certificates (MC), were released on a one-year good behaviour bond by the magistrate court here yesterday.
Arifin Musa, 35 and Nor Amalina Nor Azhar, 30, who were charged separately, pleaded guilty when the 12 counts were read to them before Magistrate Nurulfitriza Abd Latif.
Nurulfitriza released the couple on a RM6,000 bond with one surety, each.
Both Arifin and Nor Amalina were accused of possessing rubber stamps of various doctors of the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital, here, at their house at Taman Casurina here at 9.45pm on May 25, last year.
The charge, under Section 473 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum imprisonment of seven years and a fine, if convicted.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Soo Kok Weng prosecuted, while both Arifin and Amalina were represented by S Puspanathan.
In another case, two brothers were also released on a one-year good behaviour bond by the magistrate court after they pleaded guilty for submitting fake MCs.
Mohammad Nazri Mohamad Arof, 37, and Muhamad Yusof Mohamad Arof, 32, who were charged separately, pleaded guilty to all charges read by the court interpreter before Nurulfitriza.
Nazri faced four charges of using fake MCs between July 1 and Aug 11 2014 while Yusof faced three charges of the same offence, between July 1 and July 19 2014.
They were charged under Section 471 of the Penal Code and punishable under section 465 of the same code.
Nurulfitriza released Nazri on a RM4,800 bond and Yusuf, a RM3,600 bond.
