Police detain nine Jamal supporters for theft probe
PETALING JAYA: Police arrested nine friends of Red Shirts leader Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos on Wednesday night for investigations into a theft.
The theft is said to have occurred when Jamal and his Red Shirts members stormed vice dens in Ampang Jaya in December.
"To make it clear, Jamal did not raid the illegal gambling dens. The premises were entertainment outlets," Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat (pic) said Thursday.
"We received a report that a theft occurred during one of those raids. Those arrested are required to assist in the investigation," he said.
On police presence outside Jamal's house in Ampang Thursday and his subsequent arrest, SAC Fadzil said the Sungai Besar Umno chief is also required to assist in the investigation. He declined to elaborate further.
