New Straits Times
KUALA LUMPUR: The police have detained eight local men suspected to have been involved in an armed fight at several locations in the federal capital.
Two suspects, aged 23 and 26 years, with one of them armed with machete and believed to have instigated the fight, were picked up at 10.40pm during the fight at PV128, Jalan Genting Kelang, last Wednesday.
Wangsa Maju Police chief Supt Mohamad Roy Suhaimi Sarif said a check on the two suspects revealed that one of them had just been released from prison after serving six months for robbery.
He said that the fight did not stop there, but continued at Danau Kota, Setapak on the same night in which both fights were believed to have involved between 20 to 25 individuals.
Police who launched a manhunt managed to arrest another four suspects at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital, including two who were being treated, at around 1.30am yesterday, he said.
Two more suspects were arrested at Setapak, at 3am the same day and early today.
Mohamad Roy said seven of them, aged between 20 and 35 years, were remanded until Sunday and one more until Tuesday.
He said a machete was also seized and that the police believed the motive of the fights were revenge after the family of one of the suspects was robbed.
