Star Wars: The Old Republic delivers six-minute cinematic twist

Need a new Star Wars trailer? This one isn't for upcoming film Rogue One but instead for the franchise's tie-in computer game Star Wars: The Old Republic.

The six-minute cinematic tells the story of a child learning that she, too, can use the Force, even if it's not in the traditional manner.

The six-minute reel might not be reflective of the game's minute-by-minute presentation but it provides another take on the franchise's coming of age stories that overlaps with those of the films' Luke and Anakin Skywalker and, more recently, Rey and perhaps even Jyn Erso of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Star Wars: The Old Republic was first released for Microsoft Windows computers in 2011. Since then, the Massively Multiplayer Online game has pivoted to offer a free-to-play option as well as subscriber benefits.

Upcoming expansion Knights of the Eternal Throne is one of those benefits and is set for a Dec 2 launch. — AFP Relaxnews
