SINGAPORE: Police have arrested a man who was behind the wheel of a speeding blue Lamborghini caught on camera cutting lanes in a reckless manner on Oct 1.

In response to media queries, a police spokesman said a 45-year-old man had been arrested for dangerous driving.

The Straits Times understands that he was arrested on Tuesday (Oct 11).

It is unclear if the suspect is the owner of the supercar.

The incident - believed to have taken place on the East Coast Parkway - was captured by a car's dashboard camera.

A video clip uploaded by Facebook user Heng See Meng on Oct 2 has since chalked up over 120,000 views and more than 1,700 shares.

It showed the blue Lamborghini whizzing through a narrow gap between two cars.

Heng's video was also shared by road safety community groups Beh Chia Lor - Singapore Road and Roads.sg, drawing angry responses from Facebook users who condemned the driver for his dangerous actions.

The majority questioned why the supercar had not overtaken via the empty left-most lane, while some also blamed Heng's car for hogging the right-most lane.

Heng told The Straits Times his family had been in the car with him at the time of the incident and that it was a "very scary experience".

"I really hope all drivers respect road discipline and not bring danger to other road users," he added.

Photos of the car parked at the Traffic Police's headquarters were shared widely on social media on Tuesday, fuelling speculation that its driver had been caught.

A police spokesman had previously said that it was investigating the incident. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network.
