KOTA KINABALU: The Kampung Sri Aman settlement on the outskirts of Lahad Datu is no longer a haven for illegal immigrants after security forces raided the settlement and arrested 74 people on Sunday.

Acting on information that the Kampung Sri Aman settlement was where illegal immigrants were fleeing to following frequent raids in Lahad Datu, police and other security forces moved to check the 150 houses there.

Lahad Datu police chief Supt Peter Umbuas said following the checks, they detained 74 Filipino nationals - all of whom did not have any identification documents.

He said the youngest was a one-year-old toddler while the eldest was a 60-year-old man.
