‘Superman’ motorcyclist among duo fined for reckless riding

KUALA LUMPUR: Two motorcyclists were fined RM5,500 and sentenced to four days in jail each by a magistrate's court here for riding recklessly.

Magistrate Noorul Fhaiez Mohd Nayan meted out the sentence upon unemployed A. R. Indra Rao, 20 and despatch rider N. R. Sivaraj Ganesan, 20, after they pleaded guilty to the charges.

Noorul also set the condition that they are not eligible for any driving license for the next two years.

Both were charged for dangerous and reckless driving under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act.

Indra who was found performing the "Superman" stunt where his chest lies flat on the motorcycle seat with his legs stretched straight backward.

The offences were committed at 12.10am on Duke Highway here on Aug 7, 2016.

Indra pleaded for a lenient sentence saying that he would not commit the same offence again while Sivaraj asked the same as he had two children to support

Prosecuting officer Inspector Hashimah Hashim only sought for a deterrent sentence for the two
