Our search for the best buka puasa offerings among Kuala Lumpur's major five star hotels brought us to the The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Kuala Lumpur.Ramadan Buka Puasa Buffet.
The Spirit of Ramadan could truly be felt at the Mandarin Oriental, We had one of the best buka puasa experiences here. Priced at RM188 Nett for the Buka Puasa at the Mosaic Restaurant and RM138.00 Nett at the Diamond Ballroom, it does not come cheap but it was worth every cent.
The reviewers for the night were full of praise for the Malay, Indian, Japanese, Grill. Gulai Kawah, Desserts and Fruits & Durian Section. That's 90% of the buffet!. The buffet is a mix of local and international delights including traditional buka puasa dishes
As you enter the grand Mandarin Oriental Hotel Lobby you will be greeted by the soothing music from a Gamelan Band. Tourist and locals alike were busy taking selfie's with the band.
The Appetisers section was extensive with hot and cold appetisers.
The BBQ and Grill Section is a specialty at the Mandarin Oriental, This section is one of the crowds favourites Some of the dishes here include Pan Fried Sausages and Fried chicken, Margarita Pizza and Roast Chicken,
At the BBQ and Grill section you can choose lamb chops , beef, fish or chicken to be made to your liking.
They have some great tasting western dishes here including Mini Jacket Potato , Stuffed Bell Peppers, Butter Carrot with Parsely, Sweet Corn. Chicken Meatball and Mushroom Ragout. Lamb Narvarin With Garden Vegetables. Braised Seafood
This Indian section was all the reviewers favourite as everything here were so delicious. We were salivating as we went through the dishes Some of the dishes that were available here include indian basmati rice with cashew nuts, vegetable dhall, dum aloo kashmiri, goan fish curry, prawn popyaza and mixed vegetables.
The Roast Lamb Briyani is an absolute must try
Other amazing dishes include murgh makan wala, chicken tandoori butter naan and fish tikka
The Hot Bubur section offered guest a choice of Sup Kambing Mamak and Bubur Lambuk
The Chinese Section offered guest some delicious spring rolls , stir fried sliced duck, seafood fried rice, slow cooked lamb and butter prawns.
The Japanese Section is another crowd favourite. The Seafood is fresh and tasty. Many usually start with this section the salmon sashimi here is known to be one of the best and cut very well. The oysters were juicy and extremely fresh. The soft shell crab were also good.
The Gulai Kawah Section was simply amazing, every item here was a perfect 10. The dishes here include Sayur Lemak Lodeh, Sambal Tumis Udang Harimau, Gulai Kawah Rusuk Tulang. Kari Kambing, Nasi Kukus and Nasi Minyak
The Chicken and Beef Satay were so delicious it was easily one of the best in town. The Lemang and beef & chicken serunding was very good too.
The ayam percik, murtabak, samosa roti john and roti jala were also very good.
There were many traditional appetisers, indian murukku and crackers too
For those who love their Rojak you could make your own here.
For those who like noodles, not too worry they have a well stocked Noodle's section
The Drink Section offered guest hot and cold drinks. Every drink was made to perfection. You can request them to prepare the hot drinks as you like them, with or withour sugar or what ever your taste may like. The staff here are quite accomodating.
The Desserts Section was simply heavenly.with Assorted Malaysian Kuih., Ice Kacang, Chocolate Delights, Cupcake Tower, Biscuits, Mousse, Western Cakes, Macaroons and even Banana Fritters or what call Goreng Pisang
The Fruits Section was a huge hit as the King of Fruits made an appearance at the terrace section overlooking the KLCC Park. Yes the Mandarin Oriental Buffet comes with only the Best Durians, Seasonal Fruits, Mangosteen and Sweet Coconut Water. The reviewers loved the pineapples too, that is found at the drinks section.
Verdict: TheBuka Puasa Buffet at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Kuala Lumpur was simply fantastic. There was a huge variety of dishes to choose from and almost everything was damn tasty. If your company intends to host a buka puasa then this is the place to host your corporate guest. You simply cannot go wrong.

The buffet at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Kuala Lumpur was so good that special mention must go to Mr Arul Paramchothy the F&B Assistant Director who tirelessly manages his people to ensure guest have an amazing dining experience. Chef Zuber Affendy and his team did a great job in making sure a tasty feast was available for guest to break their fast whol Restaurant Manager Dean Shafiee and his team ensure that the guest recieve excellent service while they dine.
