KUALA LUMPUR: An Indonesian on a Social Visit Pass who purposely let a female teacher catch him with his pants down earned himself 14 months in prison today.

Magistrate Mohamad Izwan Mohamed Nor meted out the sentence to Salam Rohim, 33, for outraging the modesty of the woman aged 35, on a staircase on the first floor of a flat at Jalan AU3/34, Taman Keramat, Hulu Kelang.

Salam who was ordered to serve his term from the date of his arrest on May 29, admitted committing the offence at 10.50pm on May 25.

According to the facts of the case, the victim had climbed the stairs and was about to open the door of her unit when she heard the meow of a cat and turned around, only to see Salam in T-shirt with his short pants down.

The victim rushed into the house and called the police.

In mitigation, Salam who was unrepresented urged the court to impose a custodial sentence as he did not have anyone to help him settle any fine.

Deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Zuhaini Mahamad Amin urged the court to impose a deterrent sentence “as a lesson to the accused” for abusing his SVP by committing crime and causing trauma to the victim. -- Bernama
