It gets even more sinister. Investigations have revealed that the victims knew each other.
One car was found burnt in Hulu Langat while the other was sunk in a lake in Puchong. The bodies were found in the boot of the cars.
Selangor CID chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Adnan Abdullah said seven men had been arrested in connection with both cases.
“On May 5, we received a call that a burnt white Honda Accord was found in Hulu Langat.
“Checks revealed the highly decomposed body of a man in the boot.
“Following the gruesome find, a post-mortem was conducted on the body which revealed that the man had died of a possible gunshot wound to the head,” he told reporters at the Selangor police headquarters yesterday.
The victim was identified as R. Mathialagan.
He said based on investigations, police launched a series of raids in Pandan Indah, Brickfields, Shah Alam and Sungai Besi on Sunday and Monday, leading to the arrest of five men aged between 27 and 42.
“Two of them had records for possessing weapons while rioting,” he said, adding that all the suspects had been remanded.
DCP Mohd Adnan said police also arrested two Bangladeshi men over the case of the body found in the boot of a BMW sunk in a lake at Taman Maju Jaya, Puchong, on Sunday.
“Both men, aged 23 and 37, worked in the nearby area as vegetable farm and fish farm caretakers respectively.
“Investigations revealed that both men were in the area when the incident occurred,” he said, adding that they were also remanded.
A post-mortem conducted on this victim, identified as Saravanan Gopal, revealed the cause of death to be gunshot wounds to the head and chest.
“Based on our investigations, both victims knew each other, but we have yet to determine if they were friends.
“We are investigating whether there is a link between the two murders,” he said, adding that police were waiting for the results of ballistic tests on the bullets found in the bodies.
