Woman raped, brother slashed during robbery

SHAH ALAM: A 26-year-old programmer was allegedly raped while her brother was slashed with a parang when three masked men barged into their semi-detached house in Petaling Jaya.
The duo were about to leave their house in Jalan Gasing after breakfast at about 8am on Friday when a Perodua Myvi pulled up.
Three masked men armed with parang dashed out of the car and entered the home. They ransacked the place and demanded cash and valuables.
One of them slashed the brother on the arm while another allegedly pushed the woman into a room and raped her.
Selangor CID chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Adnan Abdullah confirmed the case, adding that a task force had been formed to locate the suspects.
“We believe two other men remained in the car while the others went into the house.
“We have secured CCTV footage from a neighbour to help us in investigating the case as robbery and rape,” he told a press conference at the Selangor police headquarters here yesterday.
In an unrelated case, police arrested seven, including a 17-year-old, in connection with several wayside robberies in Selangor, in a series of raids in Selayang on May 4.
DCP Mohd Adnan said police got wind of the group after a motorcyclist was robbed near Subang Jaya at about 12.30am on April 18.
“A group of men on eight motorcycles surrounded him and forced him to stop before relieving him of cash and a mobile phone,” he said, adding that similar cases had been reported.
