KUALA LUMPUR: Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor (pic) and two others are applying to strike out a lawsuit by a company in relation to the organising of the KL City Race 2016 in August.
The company, ADM Ventures (M) Sdn Bhd, sued Tengku Adnan and 10 others for damages over alleged fraud, conspiracy, breach of fiduciary duties and breach of contract linked to the race.
Tengku Adnan's lawyer, Datuk S.Satharuban, on Thursday said the minister was applying to strike out the suit.
The company's lawyer, Prem Ramachandran, said two other defendants have also filed court papers to strike out their suit.
Prem said his client had also filed an injunction to stop City Hall from signing any contract with City Motorsports Sdn Bhd from organising the race in August.
Prem said High Court judge Justice Abu Bakar Jais, who met the parties in chambers yesterday, has set June 29 to hear the striking out bid and their injunction application.
Lawyer Muhammad Ariff Arshad, who acted for seven defendants, confirmed the matter.
ADM Ventures, which brought the legal action, is applying for an order that City Motorsports be restrained from organising and holding the KL City Race 2016 to be named 'KL City 400 Supercar Extravaganza.'
ADM Ventures is also asking for an account be taken of the proceeds from any such contract with the Kuala Lumpur Mayor and be paid to GT Global Race (M) Sdn Bhd.
GT Global contends to have designed the concept for the street car race and that City Hall had agreed to give it the exclusive rights to arrange and manage the "GT City Race - KL" here for five years from last year.
They named Renew Capital Sdn Bhd, GT Global chairman Tunku Naquiyuddin Tuanku Jaafar, GT Global's directors Tunku Khairul Zaim Tunku Naquiyuddin, Marcus Francis, Dr Ranaweera Neil Prasad, Sri Lankan Dilantha Ranjula Bandara Malagamuwa, Faizal Maulana Hassan Kutti, City Motorsports, Tengku Adnan, Kuala Lumpur Mayor and GT Global Race as defendants.
According to the statement of claim, GT Global had forwarded its proposal to the Kuala Lumpur Mayor on Oct 30, 2013 to arrange and organise the race.
It said that City Hall had later taken the stand that GT Global could not afford to provide and get sponsorship for the GT City Race - KL which was to be held on Aug 12 to Aug 14 and expressed its intention to have a contract with third parties to hold the race.
In the statement of defence, Renew Capital, Tunku Naquiyuddin, Tunku Khairul Zaim, Marcus, Dr Ranaweera, Dilantha and GT Global, stated they have never committed any breach, cheating or misuse company assets which cause losses to GT Global with regard to the race.

In a counter claim by those seven defendants against ADM for alleged abuse of court process, they are seeking general damages, costs and other relief deemed fit by the court.
