MIC’s Devamany attacked at party HQ

PETALING JAYA: MIC deputy president Datuk Seri S.K. Devamany was attacked by an unknown individual at the party headquarters on Thursday.
“I was not slapped but punched. I tried to avoid it but the punch brushed my right upper cheek.
“My spectacles fell down. All is fine now,” Devamany told The Star when contacted Friday.
On Thursday, the newly elected deputy president invited the MIC group aligned to former president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel to work with the other faction to reunite the party following a five-hour discussion.
Devamany said the invitation was extended to A.K. Ramalingam who was appointed secretary-general for the Palanivel camp.
He also denied reports that the headquarters would be run by two separate administrations, managed by both factions to handle the branches aligned to Palanivel and current president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam.
