Jacqueline Ng makes Malaysia proud beating 11 others to win Hong Kongs 2015 Annual International Chinese New Talent Singing Competition

BUKIT MERTAJAM: A 26-year-old woman from Taman Sri Rambai here has made the country proud by winning the prestigious 2015 Annual International Chinese New Talent Singing Competition in Hong Kong.
Jacqueline Ng Yi Wei (pic) beat 11 other finalists in the competition organised by Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) on Sunday.
She scored 83.2 points to win the crown by beating runners-up Zhouguan Nan (81.6), and duo Kwong Kwong and Grace Yao Yao Jun (79.8), all from Australia.
“I’m glad to have won, and I’ll be bringing my mother for a long holiday to celebrate my win,” she said in Hong Kong after receiving her trophy.
She is the third Malaysian to have won the competition after Ming Li Wang from Johor in 2004 and Andrew Tan, also from Penang, in 2006.
Among the past winners and runners-up of the competition were the late Anita Mui, Alex To, Grasshopper, Hacken Lee, Leon Lai, Sammi Cheng and Eason Chan.
