Over a hundred youth detained at Ampang music gig

PETALING JAYA: More than 120 youth were detained in a police raid during a musical gig in Ampang late Friday night.
Lawyer Farida Mohd said independent punk venue Rumah Api was raided at around 11.30 Friday night as a band was performing for a gig themed, 'Party Tonight, Revolution Tomorrow'.
She said the police have also obtained a remand order for those detained.
"Two people - who are the organisers - are being remanded for four days.
"The rest, about 120 of them, are being remanded for three days," she said when contacted.
Farida, however, dismissed speculation that the raid had anything to do with Bersih 4 rally taking place in Kuala Lumpur.
"No, it has nothing to do with the rally, but we believe this has something to do with the gig's theme," she said.

She said the arrests were made under Section (4)(1)(b) of the Sedition Act, Section 6 of the Selangor Entertainment and Places of Entertainment Enactment 1995 (Amendment 2001) and Section 143 of the Penal Code.
She said the police will record statements from the youth at IPD Ampang on Saturday.
Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Khairuldin Saad refused to comment when contacted.
"I can't say much at the moment, as we are still investigating," he said.
The bands who performed Friday night include Carburetor Dung, Virginia on Duty, Badass Farmer and Blind Tribe.
