    KLUANG: A man who stabbed his ex-fiancée to death after she refused to reconcile with him has been charged with murder at the magistrate's court here on Monday.
    The accused Muhammad Irshaduddin Khalis Nasurudin (pic), 23, is charged with murdering Nursyafikah Ahmad Ismail, 20, at around 5.45pm at the motorcycle parking lot of the Econsave supermarket along Jalan Mersing here on April 10.
    He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries a mandatory death sentence if found guilty.
    Muhammad Irshaduddin Khalis only nodded in acknowledgement that he understood the charge when it was read out to him by a court interpreter.
    Magistrate Nuruhuda Yusof then set May 26 for the next mention.
    No plea was recorded.
    Deputy public prosecutor Norafiah Saini prosecuted the case while the accused was unrepresented.
    It was earlier reported that a supermarket clerk Nursyafikah, who was to wed this year was killed by her ex-fiancé just outside her workplace in Kluang on April 10.
    The suspect reportedly slammed her head onto a motorcycle before stabbing her with a kitchen knife after she refused to reconcile with him, as she was already engaged to another man.
    It was also reported that police nabbed the accused at Bandar Penawar in Kota Tinggi just before he tried to flee to a neighbouring country on April 14.
