ALOR SETAR: The woman who jumped out of a moving car after being allegedly kidnapped by her former husband has died.
The mother-of-two, Rosniza Fadzil (pic), 30, died yesterday evening at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital after being in critical condition since last Thursday’s incident.
She suffered severe head injuries and a fractured right leg after she jumped out of the moving car and was run over by another vehicle.
Rosniza, a cook, was riding her motorcycle from her home in Kampung Lengkuas, Bukit Pinang here, to her workplace in Jitra when her ex-husband allegedly grazed her machine with his Proton Waja around 6.30am.
She fell off the bike, but was believed to have put up a fight before she was overpowered and forced into the car.
She, however, tried to escape by jumping out of the speeding car but as she hit the road in nearby Simpang Pinang Jaya, she was run over by another car.
Rosniza and her husband of six years were divorced four months ago. Apparently, she was a victim of regular abuse during the time.
Her 53-year-old former husband was nabbed in Kampung Asam Jawa Pulai in Baling, some 120km from here, on Friday.
When contacted, Kota Setar OCPD Asst Comm Adzaman Mohd Jan said the case – earlier investigated as voluntarily causing grievous hurt – has been reclassified as murder.
“I was by my mum’s side all the time since she was admitted to hospital. I know she has left us, but I’ll miss her and the food she cooked for us,” said Rosniza’s eldest son Mohamed Izzuddin Rosnizan, 11, who was with his siblings and family members at the hospital mortuary yesterday.
