KUALA LUMPUR: The long-awaited international theatre production Thriller Live–Malaysia 2015 opened with a bang at the Putra Indoor Stadium.
The West End musical celebration of Michael Jackson’s hits dazzled the audience with spectacular visual effects combined with the King of Pop’s signature dance moves. It is presented by Milestone Production and supported by Malaysia Major Events.
The musical featured 50 performers, including a 11-piece live band, which had the crowd cheering and clapping along to catchy MJ tunes like Bad, Beat It, Billie Jean, Black or White, Smooth Criminal and Thriller.
The show also turned up the nostalgia with an array of favourites from the Jackson 5’s early years, including ABC, I Want You Back and I’ll Be There. It is the 20th longest running in West End’s history and has toured 28 countries since 2009.
Also present were Star Publications (M) Bhd group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai as well as Leanne Goh, The Star’s acting group chief editor.
Thriller Live runs at the Putra Indoor Stadium at 8.30pm until Wednesday with 3pm matinees this weekend.
Malaysia Major Events is a division of Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau, an agency under the Tourism and Culture Ministry, with RHB as the official bank, Munchy’s as Gold Sponsor and Star Publications as media partner.
