PETALING JAYA: What was supposed to be a time of leisure at the park ended with one suspected Gang 24 member dead and two others severely injured.
In the 1.30am incident, M.Ganeshwaran, 22, died at the scene after being shot and slashed multiple times.
Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Ali Ahmad said the victim was with six of his friends at a football field in Taman Amaniah, Batu Caves here, when a white Proton Saga and purple Perodua MyVi pulled over.

"Five masked men, armed with a gun and parang, alighted from both vehicles and started attacking the group.
"Two shots were fired, one of which struck Ganeshwaran on his chest.
"He was also slashed multiple times on his head, right wrist and back," he explained.
ACP Ali said two of Ganeshwaran's friends were also wounded in the attack and have been sent to Hospital Selayang for treatment.
The other members of the group escaped unharmed.
ACP Ali said police believed that the assailants were members of Gang 36 Intan Baiduri and the victims were part of Gang 24 Batu Caves.
"Some of the victims knew their assailants by the names 'Uba', 'Maran' and 'Sri Murni Boy'.
"We are still investigating the motive behind the attack. Witnesses have been picked up to have their statements recorded," he explained.
Police retrieved a bullet casing and took blood swabs from the scene.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
