PETALING JAYA: PAS central committee member Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad was allegedly assaulted at his house Thursday morning after performing Subuh prayers.
PAS Youth chief Suhaizan Kayat, in a 9am post on his Facebook account, said that Dr Dzulkefli was punched on his face and forehead by an unknown assailant after returning from prayers.
"After the incident, the suspect asked Dr Dzulkefly 'Why are you being very ill-mannered?" he said.
Suhaizan did not discount the possibility that there were certain quarters trying to take the opportunity to provoke the PAS leadership.
"Their have bad intentions and want to see a split in PAS," he said.
When contacted later, Dr Dzulkefli's personal assistant B. Sivabalan said that he was now at home recovering from the attack after receiving treatment at a hospital in Shah Alam.
"At the moment he is alright and only sustained minor injuries on his lips and forehead," he said.
The suspect, he said, approached Dr Dzulkefli at the porch in front of his house and immediately fled on a motorcycle after attacking him, said Sivabalan.
He said a police report has been lodged and his statement recorded at his house
