PETALING JAYA: A feud broke out between commentors on Akademi Fantasia winner Vince Chong's Instagram account on Monday after the singer and actor posted a photo of his aunt's shirt as a joke on International Women's Day.

Chong was slammed as being sexist for posting the picture, which displayed a cartoon of a woman sitting beside the driver of a car while being gagged with her seat-belt, with the caption "Not sure where my aunt found this T-shirt but......LOL.... Happy women's day... Hahah #lol #9gag."
This was followed by a post from another user, shazalomaniac, who said; "I understood the joke. It's funny. Really. But not suitable as a post dedicated for Women's Day."
User alexiechou, also commented on Chong's Instagram post, saying; "We aren't threatened by that statement, more like annoyed. We ARE empowered. So much so that we would call out a public figure directly that he is being insensitive and sexist. Any stereotypical joke is harmless until they're not."
"The thing is; as a public figure who posts such a stereotypical joke on a public platform, he will have to own up to his actions," added alexiechou, who also said that it was a shame that the mentality of women being the inferior sex had become so entrenched into society that such a joke was acceptable.
Chong's brother, @seanchongtc waded into the argument and said; "Sensitive rude people la @vincetogram ignore these ding dongs. Judgemental people who have no right to call someone who isn't sexist, a sexist."
Singled out two commentors saying, "you guys are very very rude and who the do u think u are passing judgement on someone who isn't a sexist and making such a disgraceful rude statement. Majority are not agreeing with u boring and very sensitive people."
He added that Chong merely reposted a joke from his aunt, a "confident independent intelligent WOMAN @leegenchong, who isn't like u sensitive ding dongs."
User @timphilckgan then added; "I don't care if it's your bro or your aunt who posted this, the fact that it is up shows so much about what is wrong about the mentality of you men and some of you women who support this and other sexist statements."
Chong ostensibly drew added flak for his post as he was one of the directors involved in the Ikal Mayang project, a series of short films championing women.
