KUALA LUMPUR: MCA has filed a police report against Muslim rights group Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) president Abdullah Zaik Abdullah Rahman for his allegedly offensive statements about Chinese Malaysians, which labelled them “trespassers” and questioned their citizenship and wealth.
The party’s Youth Legal Bureau chief Eric Choo filed a police report on Wednesday with five other MCA youth central committee members at the Dang Wangi police station.
“Let the police handle it,” he told The Star.
“Under the Penal Code you can’t make statements that affect public tranquillity. The police have a duty to maintain public peace and order,” he siad.
On news that Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar was investigating Abdullah Zaik for sedition, Choo said the party was “hoping for more”.
“We hope the deputy public prosecutor will press charges against Abdullah Zaik so we can put an end to all these statements which incite hatred,” he said.
MCA youth chief Chong Sin Woon (pic) also urged the Government to take stern action against the NGO for Abdullah Zaik’s statement.
“We urge the Government to look into it and take stern action. (Isma) is trying to instigate anti-Chinese sentiment in the country,” he said.
Chong further lambasted the DAP for constantly taking pot-shots at MCA instead of its Pakatan Rakyat partner with regard PAS’s hudud.
“PAS is part of your coalition, do something. We, like the DAP, don’t approve of PAS’s hudud, so why are they criticising us everyday?” he said.
The youth chief stated that the MCA Youth Legal Bureau would be holding a forum to discuss PAS’s hudud this Sunday, with speakers from various political parties and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
The forum themed “Hudud in Malaysia – Can We? Should We?” is scheduled to begin at 3pm at Wisma MCA and run until 6.30pm.
Chong said the forum was aimed at educating Malaysians on hudud.
“The forum is about knowing more about hudud and its impact on both Muslims and non-Muslims,” he said.
