KUALA LUMPUR: A petty trader and his second wife were each fined RM500 after they pleaded guilty to injuring his first wife by smearing chili paste on her face.
Malaysian-born Muhammad Ariff Jupirin, 27, and Indonesian Srimeiriska Iswandy, 25, were charged at the magistrates court today with hurting Muntamah Ahmad Minlon, 48.
On Feb 25 around 1am outside a rented house at Jalan Badak, off Jalan Yew, Cheras here, Indonesian Muntamah was waiting for a friend inside her car when Ariff entered the car and smeared her face with the chili paste.
Srimeiriska, who had also entered the car, pulled Muntamah out of the vehicle. Ariff and Srimeiriska then drove off in the car.
Police apprehended both accused later the same day.
During mitigation today, both Ariff and Srimeiriska pleaded for a lenient sentence as they had to look after their children.
