KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines chief executive officer Ahmad Jauhari Yahya said the airlines is working to verify the whereabouts of the missing MH370 flight.
He said the flight was operated by Boeing777 and departed Kuala Lumpur at 12.41am today and was scheduled to land in Beijing at 6.30am the same day.
The flight which had a flying hours of 18,365, had 239 passengers and crew members, of which 227 were passengers (including two infants) and 12 crew members, he said.

“We are deeply saddened with the news. The flight lost contact with traffic control at 2.40 am this morning.
“We are working to locate the air craft. Currently, we are calling the next of kin of the passengers,” he said at a press conference, while dismissing speculations that the flight has landed in Nan ming, China.
“Capt Zahari Ahmad Shah, 53, joined MAS in 1981 and total flying hours of more than 18,000. While, the first official, Farid Abdul Rahim, joined in 2007 and has 2,763 flying hours,” he said adding that they will update the public from time to time.

Meanwhile, CCTV reported that there were no updated information on the whereabouts of the missing plane.
