MISSING DISPATCH RIDER FOUND DEAD IN DRAIN.

PETALING JAYA: A despatch rider who went missing after a night out with friends was found dead in a drain here.
The police said R. Surendren (pic), 28, may have been dead for two days when his body was found near the Kampung Datuk Harun KTM station on Friday night.
His brother, R. Satish, found the body at around 9pm after the family went in search of Surendren.
Petaling Jaya OCPD ACP Arjunaidi Mohamed said they have classified the case as “sudden death”.
Surendren’s family, however, suspects foul play as his pouch bag, mobile phone and wallet were missing.
His mother, G. Suselah, 52, said her son had spent the night out drinking with friends at Taman Maju Jaya on Wednesday.
She said all five of them later decided to adjourn to another place at Paramount Garden for another session.
“His friends felt something amiss when he failed to show up and wasn’t answering any of their calls,” said Suselah, an insurance agent, when met at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre mortuary here early yesterday.
She said she had received a “missed call” from her son’s phone number at around 9.15pm on Thursday but she was not able to reach him when she called back.
She added that Surendran was staying with an aunt in Cheras, which was closer to his work place.
“When I called her to ask about his whereabouts, she told me he hadn’t been home since Wednesday night,” said the distraught Suselah, adding that the family then went to search for Surendran, who was due to celebrate his 29th birthday next month.
He was allegedly last seen riding his red-and-white Yamaha motorcycle in Pandan Indah.
Suselah said Surendren’s death was a bitter blow as she had lost her eldest son in a road accident 14 years ago.
