RTD To Station Officers At 157 Locations For CNY

Pic: NST OnlineALOR STAR: The Road and Transport Department will station 1,800 staff and officers at 157 locations along the main stretches nationwide for the Chinese New Year festive, beginning Jan 24 until Feb 9.
Its director-general Datuk Seri Ismail Ahmad said the department would station two staff for each of the location along the North-South Expressway and accident hotspots along the federal and state roads.
Ismail said the move was part of the department's effort to remind motorists to drive safely, whenever they spotted the RTD team.
"We want the motorists to be extra cautious while driving during the festive period to avert fatal accident," he said after opening the state-level 1JPJ Young Squad here yesterday.
It would be the first time RTD stationing its team at every 30km of the main stretches nationwide.
