WESTIN KUALA LUMPUR RAISES MONEY FOR UNICEF WITH ITS "FABULOSA MASCARADA" NIGHT!

“Fabulosa Mascarada” night in support of UNICEF

Every fundraising effort and donation, however small, helps UNICEF bring life-saving supplies and care to the children who need it most.

That’s why this year, The Westin Kuala Lumpur’s associates put together a fund raising masquerade night called “Fabulosa Mascarada” in support of  the Check out for Children programme on Friday, 27 September 2013.

The UNICEF Check Out for Children Challenge is a staff fundraising competition between Starwood Hotels which began in 2003 and continues to gather strong support throughout Starwood Hotels and Resorts in the Asia Pacific region.

The night proceedings at Qba Latin Bar & Grill started off with a show by Latin dancers performing the “Tango Argentino”, followed by a speech from Hratch Khatchanian – The Westin Kuala Lumpur’s General Manager. A few more dance performances ensued with the highlight of a fast paced Street Cuban Salsa dance by Saiful & Aemy Wong.

To further raise funds, Lil Kev from RED FM who was the MC for the night announcedthe sale of various destination holiday package vouchers at discounted rates. Some of the destinations on offer were from the likes of W Bangkok, St. Regis Singapore to Le Merdien Phuket. A few associates known on the night as “Huggy bears” were also going around with a bucket in tow, pledging hugs to all guests who were willing to part with their cash for a good cause.

Rocking the crowd on the night was Jewel Union; a popular all-female DJ group who took the crowd by storm playing current and popular dance hits through the night.

The success of the event could not have been achieved without the generosity of guests in donating and taking part in the Check Out for Children programme and the commitment of our associates in fundraising for UNICEF.
